Dear Garfield School Community,

I am writing to provide information on the incident that happened at the Garfield School today. As you know, student safety is of utmost important to the Revere Schools.

At 9:40 a.m., a middle school student reported to her teacher that she had seen an open backpack on the basketball court prior to the start of school. The student reported that as they walked by, they saw a gun and two knives. The School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to that building immediately responded and interviewed the student. He then requested the other SROs join him to interview a couple of other students who the initial reporter felt might have knowledge
